DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body and helps keep the skin smooth, plump, and hydrated. As we age, our natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases, leading to loss of volume, lines, and a more hollow appearance in the face. Dermal fillers can gently restore lost volume, soften lines and wrinkles, and bring back a more refreshed, youthful, and energised look- all while enhancing your natural features.

Dermal fillers are made from a soft, gel-like substance called hyaluronic acid. The filler is injected into specific areas of the face to restore volume, smooth lines and wrinkles and enhance facial contours. The treatment can help lift, plump, and rejuvenate the skin for a natural-looking result.

Our dermal filler treatment sessions take around 30-45 minutes.

The results of dermal filler are visible immediately and can last for different lengths of time depending on the type used. Some fillers last around 6–9 months, while others can last up to 12 months. Even after this period, the product doesn’t disappear completely- it gradually breaks down in the body over time.

Numbing cream is often used when injecting dermal fillers. It helps to significantly reduce the discomfort during the treatment. If you are nervous about pain or have a low pain threshold, we recommend taking 1g of Paracetamol about one hour before your appointment.

Dermal fillers are generally safe when performed by a qualified and experienced professional. They are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body. The fillers we use are fully reversible, and if needed, can be safely dissolved using a special reversing solution.

Dermal fillers carry a small risk of side effects. The most common include tenderness, bruising, and swelling. Tenderness usually improves within a few days but can last up to 3 weeks. Bruising may take about a week to resolve but can often be covered with makeup the day after treatment. Swelling generally settles within 2–3 days.

A much rarer complication is a blockage of a blood vessel, which can be treated with a special reversing agent. This is why it’s essential to have your treatment performed by a trusted medical professional, so any rare complications can be quickly recognised and managed. All potential side effects will be explained in detail during your personalised consultation.

Not usually, downtime is minimal.

Some patients may have some bruising/swelling following filler treatment and choose to delay work for a few days whilst this settles down.

At Amberley Aesthetics, we only use fully reversible fillers. These are safer than permanent fillers and can be dissolved in an emergency or if you are unhappy with the result.
