Biostimulators
Biostimulators are advanced injectable treatments designed to rejuvenate the skin from within by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production and encouraging the skin to rebuild its own natural support structure.
Treatments such as JULÄINE, Juvelook, Lenisna and Radiesse work with the skin’s natural regenerative processes. Depending on the product and treatment area, they act within the deeper layers of the skin to help improve firmness, elasticity, texture and overall skin quality.
Collagen is the protein responsible for providing skin with its firmness, elasticity and structure. As we age, natural collagen levels decline, contributing to skin laxity, fine lines and loss of firmness.
By encouraging your body’s own collagen-building processes, biostimulators help gradually improve the skin’s strength, structure and appearance over time.
The result? Firmer, smoother and more supple-looking skin, with gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation that enhances your features rather than simply adding volume.
Biostimulators can help address a range of skin quality and age-related changes/concerns, including:
Loss of skin firmness and elasticity
Skin laxity and mild sagging
Fine lines and wrinkles
Thinning skin and loss of skin density
Crepey or fragile-looking skin
Uneven skin texture
Loss of collagen and structural support
Early signs of ageing
Dull or tired-looking skin
Depending on the product, formulation and individual suitability:
- Face: Cheeks, temples, lower face and jawline
- Under-eye area: Selected concerns relating to thin, crepey skin.
- Neck: Skin laxity, fine lines and crepey texture
- Décolletage: Fine lines, sun-related skin ageing and loss of firmness
- Hands: Thinning skin and loss of skin quality
- Body: Areas such as the upper arms, abdomen, thighs and knees, where skin laxity and crepey texture may be a concern.
At Amberley Aesthetics, we offer a carefully curated range of advanced collagen biostimulators, each selected for its unique formulation, technology and regenerative properties.
JULÄINE:
Advanced PLLA Microsphere Technology
Developed in Sweden by Nordberg Medical, JULÄINE is an innovative poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen biostimulator designed to activate your skin's natural collagen production.
What makes JULÄINE particularly distinctive is its proprietary LASYNPRO™ microsphere technology. Its carefully engineered, uniform, spherical particles have an ultra-smooth surface, allowing them to disperse evenly and integrate smoothly within the tissue.
This advanced particle design is intended to support a controlled, low-inflammatory regenerative response, encouraging natural collagen production and helping improve skin firmness, elasticity and structural support over time.
The result is gradual, natural-looking rejuvenation, helping restore the skin's strength and structure from within.
JUVELOOK & LENISNA
Innovative Korean Collagen Biostimulators
Developed in South Korea, JUVELOOK and LENISNA represent a new generation of hybrid collagen-stimulating injectables, combining poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) with hyaluronic acid (HA).
This combination brings together two complementary benefits: hyaluronic acid provides hydration and an initial skin-conditioning effect, while PDLLA stimulates your body's own collagen production for progressive, longer-term improvements.
Although they share the same core technology, each has a different formulation and purpose:
JUVELOOK: Designed primarily to improve skin quality, texture and firmness. Its formulation makes it particularly useful for delicate skin concerns, including selected under-eye treatments, where clinically appropriate.
LENISNA: Contains a higher concentration of PDLLA and is designed to provide greater structural support, improve skin firmness and address volume loss alongside collagen stimulation.
RADIESSE
Immediate Structure Meets Collagen Stimulation
RADIESSE is a calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) based injectable that offers a dual approach to facial rejuvenation.
Unlike treatments that rely primarily on gradual collagen stimulation, RADIESSE also provides an immediate structural and volumising effect through its gel carrier, helping restore definition, support and contour.
Over time, the calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres stimulate your body's natural collagen and elastin production, helping improve skin firmness, elasticity and overall quality.
This combination of immediate structural support and progressive biostimulation makes RADIESSE a versatile option for addressing volume loss, facial definition and age-related changes in skin quality.
Our philosophy is simple: work with your skin's natural biology to support its structure, stimulate collagen and achieve refined, natural-looking results.
Your treatment journey begins with a personalised consultation, where we assess your skin, discuss your concerns and establish a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
Before your treatment, the skin will be thoroughly cleansed and prepared. Where appropriate, a topical numbing cream or local anaesthetic may be used to maximise comfort.
The biostimulator is then carefully administered using either a fine needle or a flexible, blunt-tipped cannula, depending on the product, treatment area and technique selected.
Treatment is generally well tolerated, although you may experience some mild pressure, pinching or temporary discomfort during the injections.
The number of treatments required will depend on your individual skin concerns, the product selected and your desired outcome.
Some patients may benefit from a single treatment, while others achieve optimal results through a course of treatments spaced several weeks apart.
Your personalised treatment plan will be discussed during your consultation, including recommended treatment intervals and any maintenance treatments that may help preserve your results.
Our biostimulator treatment sessions take around 45-60 minutes.
Biostimulators have a good safety profile when administered appropriately by a suitably trained and experienced medical practitioner.
As with any injectable treatment, biostimulators can cause some temporary side effects following treatment. These are generally mild and settle naturally as the skin recovers.
Common immediate side effects may include:
Mild redness around the injection sites.
Swelling or puffiness in the treated area.
Small injection-site bumps or raised areas.
Bruising or tenderness.
Mild discomfort, tightness or sensitivity.
Minor bleeding at the injection sites.
These reactions typically settle over the following days, although bruising and swelling can occasionally last a little longer.
Less common and more significant complications will also be discussed by your practitioner during your consultation, ensuring you understand the potential risks and side effects specific to your chosen treatment and are fully informed before proceeding.
Your safety and wellbeing are always our priority at Amberley Aesthetics.
Biostimulators work gradually, encouraging your body's natural collagen-producing processes.
Depending on the product used, you may notice some initial changes in hydration, skin appearance or volume shortly after treatment. However, collagen stimulation takes time, with improvements developing progressively over the following weeks and months.
Results develop gradually and vary between individuals and treatments. The improvements can be long-lasting, helping the skin look firmer, healthier and more supported, without necessarily creating additional facial fullness or a heavier appearance.
Your practitioner will discuss the expected results and treatment timeline for your chosen biostimulator, including whether a course of treatments is recommended.
Biostimulator treatments generally involve minimal downtime, and most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities shortly after treatment.
You may experience some mild swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising around the injection sites. These effects are usually temporary and settle over the following few days, although bruising can occasionally last longer.
Most patients can return to work the same day or the following day, depending on the treatment area and any visible swelling or bruising. If you have an important event or occasion coming up, we recommend allowing some additional time for any temporary side effects to settle.
We generally recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, alcohol, saunas and other facial treatments for a short period following treatment. Your practitioner will provide specific aftercare advice based on the product used and your individual treatment.
Our doctor-led clinic is based in Wickwar, South Gloucestershire, and welcomes patients for collagen biostimulators – including JULÄINE, Juvelook, Lenisna and Radiesse – from Yate, Chipping Sodbury, Wotton-under-Edge, Thornbury, Bristol, Bath, Gloucester and Stroud, as well as Tetbury, Nailsworth, Newport and Chepstow.
